I'm a huge fan of the "western" genre in movies and tv and just finished watching the first season dvds of HBO's Deadwood. Loved it. In the writer/creator's commentary of the fist episode he says something like "in a dysfunctional family one kid always gets singled out for beating". The scene itself is fascinating to watch with that in mind. And I never knew this fact was widely known and accepted. The comment gave me a sense of comfort and the idea that with so many dysfunctional families there's probably alot of us out there.
I'm still interested in starting a support group up here but I'll wait awhile until my job situation settles out (we're negotiating). Once that happens I'll find a better home and a therapist too. Its all coming together and this group has been a catalyst in many ways.
Thanks gang.
