WORK EXPERIENCE:

Nov 2001 - Now I am now working for the Univerisity of Durham and Pipeline Engineering on a two year contract working with non-intrusive pig signallers. The contract is under the umbrella of TCS (formerly Teaching Company Scheme) which is a government funded grant scheme to bring new knowledge and skills into companies from UK univesities.

Dec 1997 - Oct 2001 Computer Consultancy. Freelance PC computer work teaching, upgrading, mending and installing systems based on all Microsoft operating systems. Currently specialising in web design, coding all HTML from the ground up to provide optimal download times and page presentation.

Jul - Aug 1997 Trekforce Expeditions. Voluntary conservation work in south Sumatra, Indonesia, to help promote eco-tourism to the area.

Aug - Dec 1996 Shakespeare Speechwriter. Software programming and bug testing, writing a tutorial, technical support and network manager.

Apr - Jun 1996 Greenfield School. Groundsman and maintenance work and teaching computer studies to 12 - 16 year olds.

Jan - Feb 1996 Greenfield School. Groundsman and maintenance work

Summer 1995 Shakespeare Speechwriter, for six weeks. C programming writing a software tutorial for a speech recognition product.

My final year engineering project involved designing a programmable hardware core to provide a multi-purpose interface across the PCI bus. See project report link on left for complete project report.


OTHER INTERESTS AND ATTAINMENT:

At University:

  • Radio DJ on Purple FM Student Radio Station two years running.
  • Student IT officer at Grey College and member of the University IT Users Committee.
  • Member of the University Hill Walking and Windsurfing Societies.

In School:

  • Member of the engineering society in which I made a laser based lighting effect.
  • Member of Ardingly College Expedition Society and was meteorological project leader on a three week scientific expedition to Iceland in July 1996.
  • Jointly organised the sound and lighting for three school discos and two live concerts. Both of the concerts raised money for the British Red Cross.
